It was convicted of misappropriating 500 $10,000 for trading cryptocurrencies and &#8220;meme stocks&#8221; and sentenced to three years in prison. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">An April 27 press release from the Department of Justice (DOJ). It said Morgenthau misappropriated more than $5 million from three different SPacs &#8211; AGAC, SMAC I and SMAC II &#8211; between June 2021 and August 2022. According to a related SEC civil complaint. And Morgenthau wired approximately $1.2 million from AGAC into his personal account. And used the money to trade cryptocurrency options and meme shares. In the process, he lost almost all of his money. Morgenthau pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud on Jan. 3.
