UNION-CXO\u8054\u76df\uff08cxounion.cn\uff09<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u6211\u610f\u8bc6\u5230\uff0c\u5b64\u72ec\u5371\u673a\u662f\u5b58\u5728\u7684\u3002\u4eba\u4e0e\u4eba\u4e4b\u95f4\u9700\u8981\u4e00\u79cd\u8fde\u63a5\u3002\u6211\u89c1\u8fc7\u5f88\u591a\u987e\u5ba2\u8fdb\u5e97\uff0c\u6709\u4e9b\u4eba\u53ef\u80fd\u6ca1\u6709\u548c\u5f88\u591a\u4eba\u8bf4\u8fc7\u8bdd\uff0c\u4f46\u4ed6\u4eec\u9700\u8981\u8fd9\u79cd\u8fde\u63a5\u3002\u6211\u66fe\u7ecf\u5728\u4e00\u5bb6\u533b\u9662\u7684\u95e8\u5e97\u91cc\u5de5\u4f5c\uff0c\u90a3\u65f6\u6211\u7684\u6bcd\u4eb2\u751f\u75c5\u4f4f\u9662\u51e0\u5468\u3002\u5728\u8fd9\u91cc\uff0c\u6211\u770b\u5230\u7236\u6bcd\u4e3a\u65b0\u751f\u513f\u7684\u964d\u751f\u611f\u5230\u5174\u594b\uff0c\u770b\u5230\u8d70\u8fdb\u95e8\u5e97\u7684\u75c5\u4eba\u5bf9\u5c06\u8981\u8fdb\u884c\u7684\u68c0\u67e5\u611f\u5230\u7126\u8651\u3002\u5766\u7387\u5730\u8bf4\uff0c\u6211\u770b\u5230\u4eba\u4eec\u4e0d\u77e5\u6240\u63aa\u3002\u6211\u8ba4\u4e3a\u6211\u4eec\u6709\u5fc5\u8981\u771f\u6b63\u4e86\u89e3\u8fd9\u4e2a\u4e16\u754c\u5230\u5e95\u53d1\u751f\u4e86\u4ec0\u4e48\u3002\u65e0\u8bba\u662f\u5728\u7f8e\u56fd\u3001\u6b27\u6d32\u8fd8\u662f\u65e5\u672c\uff0c\u5f53\u6211\u5728\u95e8\u5e97\u91cc\u73af\u987e\u56db\u5468\u65f6\uff0c\u90fd\u80fd\u770b\u5230\u51e0\u4f4d\u6563\u6b65\u540e\u7684\u8001\u5e74\u4eba\u5750\u4e0b\u6765\u559d\u4e00\u676f\u70ed\u5496\u5561\u3002\u8fd9\u4e9b\u4eba\u90fd\u5728\u5bfb\u627e\u4e00\u79cd\u8fde\u63a5\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u53ef\u4ee5\u53d1\u6325\u4f5c\u7528\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 How will he lead the well-known multinational company?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On October 12, 2023, at the Fortune Global 500 Summit held in Guangzhou, Fortune CEO Mullan and Starbucks CEO Nashan held a dialogue on the topic of &#8220;Leadership of multinational companies&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following is an edited transcript of the conversation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Mullan: You&#8217;ve been CEO of Starbucks for six months. You did six months of immersive training before taking the job, tell us what that meant, how it felt, and why you did it.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Starbucks CEO: My idea was to really immerse myself in the business and understand the culture of the company and understand it from a partner&#8217;s perspective. I would spend time in Starbucks stores and learn how to be a professional barista. I have worked in stores across the United States, as well as in stores in Europe, Mexico, China and Japan. Instead of studying books or checking finances somewhere, you work in a store. This is a different approach to leadership development. Can you explain why?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starbucks CEO: The best way to feel a brand is with a partner. People might say you&#8217;re the CEO, why go to the front line? Someone even asked me why the training took six months. I said it&#8217;s a very Western question, if you&#8217;re from the East, why only 6 months? So I learned a lot from that experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realized that there is a crisis of loneliness. We need a connection between people. I&#8217;ve seen a lot of customers come into the store, some of whom may not have talked to a lot of people, but they need that connection. I once worked in a hospital store when my mother was sick and hospitalized for a few weeks. Here I see parents excited about the arrival of a new baby and patients coming into the store anxious about the tests they will undergo. Frankly, I see people at a loss. I think we need to really understand what&#8217;s going on in the world. Whether in the United States, Europe or Japan, when I look around in a store, I can see several elderly people sitting down for a hot cup of coffee after a walk. These people are looking for a connection where we can make a difference.<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-white-color\">CXO UNION-CXO\u8054\u76df\uff08cxounion.cn\uff09<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Fortune CEO Mullan: Starbucks is a place where people go to have a cup of coffee, sit down and talk and interact. But the emergence of the pandemic has changed people&#8217;s consumption habits and hindered interaction. Our purpose became to go in, get a cup of coffee, and get out as quickly as possible. This morning, when I went to Starbucks, I saw about 15 people waiting to pick up their online orders, but not many people sitting in the store drinking coffee. I want to know what you think about the pandemic and how do you rebuild that relationship?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starbucks CEO: First of all, we have to do a better job of making sure we don&#8217;t have 15 people in line in our stores. The outbreak has had a real impact on consumers, as well as Starbucks, and we are still working through it. But even the moment you&#8217;re just driving past a Starbucks or talking to a barista while picking up your online order is a moment of connection. Two-thirds of people who need to buy food and drink go to stores alone, and they want to be part of a community. Some people tend to go digital online, but being digital doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t relate to people, and that&#8217;s what conversation is all about. We&#8217;re even pushing digital to create deeper connections with people, rethinking what it means to build connections across channels and putting them into practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Mu Ruilan, CEO of Fortune: Can you talk about your upbringing and how it influenced your leadership style?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starbucks CEO: I grew up in India and came to America as an immigrant with two suitcases and $7,700 and an Asian pressure cooker because my mom didn&#8217;t think I&#8217;d fit in. After graduating from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, I started my career. I&#8217;ve worked in many places and moved 25 times in 30 years of marriage. In the process, I learned a lot about leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think people are endlessly curious about leadership. The more I learn, the less I feel like I know, so it&#8217;s important to keep learning, but also learn how to forget. It also means doing a lot of meditation to determine what I want to keep and what I want to let go so that curiosity doesn&#8217;t occupy too much of my brain.<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-white-color\">CXO UNION-CXO\u8054\u76df\uff08cxounion.cn\uff09<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the only survivor of three children, I learned that people really do matter. I really enjoy building relationships with people. I want to get in touch with them, learn and work together. In addition, I have lived in many different parts of the world and seen different business models, whether it is in Guatemala as CEO of PepsiCo Latin America, or in Japan, China, or Europe, recognizing different business models is an important part of my leadership. A tough personality is also important.
