The performance of the deposit business is very good and predictable.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barclays reported earlier on Thursday that Q1 revenue rose 11 percent year on year to 7.237 billion pounds, beating market expectations of 6.788 billion pounds. Net profit attributable to parent rose 27% year on year to \u00a31.78bn, beating market expectations of \u00a31.45bn; Underlying earnings per share were 11.3 pence, beating market expectations of 9.2 pence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Credit Suisse and a number of smaller US banks struggling with deposit outflows, investors are now closely watching banks for inflows or outflows. Deposits at Barclays rose by around \u00a310 billion in Q1, while rivals including Deutsche Bank saw declines. C.S. Barclays, in particular, has benefited from companies parking more cash with the bank, Venkatakrishnan noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, C.s Venkatakrishnan also said he expects banking regulation to change following recent liquidity problems at some banks.
