一、劳动的意义，不仅在于追求业绩，更在于完善人的内心

想好好活，就得好好干，这一点很重要。

有这样一则小故事值得玩味：

在南太平洋新不列颠岛上，有一个未开化部落的村庄，那里的人们都认同“劳动是美德”这一观点。

在他们的生活中渗透着一种纯朴的劳动观：“认真劳动能塑造美丽心灵”，“美好的工作产生于美好的心灵”。

在这个村落里，主要的劳动内容是烧荒式的农业，作物是甘薯。

在那里，根本不存在“工作是苦役”这样的观念。村民们通过工作追求的目标是：“工作得到的美的成果”和“人格的陶冶”，就是要把工作做得完美，并由此磨炼自己的人格。

而在给人类带来近代文明的西方社会里，从基督教思想起源，“劳动乃是苦役”这个观点相当普及。

劳动虽然艰辛，但却能带来喜悦感、自豪感，并能让人明白生活的意义，劳动是高贵的行为。

有许多优秀的工匠，只要专心磨炼技能，制造出赏心悦目的产品，他们就会感到有一种说不出的自豪和充实；

因为他们认为劳动是既能磨炼技能，又能磨炼心志的修行，他们把劳动看作自我实现、完善人格的“精进”的道场。

二、斗争心和意志力是一把双刃剑，所以提升人格、提高心性非常重要

斗争心和意志力是一把双刃剑。超过限度，错误使用，就有毁灭自己、部下和团队的危险。正因如此，提升人格、提高心性就非常重要。

三、随着我们提升人格，即使自己不去强求；财产也会不断增加，名誉也会随之而来

我们都倾注心血，经营着各自的中小企业，这件事本身就是提升人格、提高心性的事业。

重要的是，我们至少要努力坚持下去，持续提升人格，提高心性，当死亡来临之时，让自己觉得“多少变得更好了一些”。

这就是人生的目的。

我们通过企业经营拼命努力修行，在这个过程中，人格不断完善，结果会发生什么呢？

因为我们的人格变得更好了，所以一定会思善行善。

这样的话，因为“因果报应的法则”始终在起作用，所以我们身边的所有事情都会越来越好，事业经营也因而会越来越好。

与此同时，我们摆脱了那个“整天我啊我啊，只想着追求利益的自己”，观察事物的角度多多少少发生了变化，开始可以看到事物的整体，即使还到不了开悟的境界，但实际上已经可以更全面地看到事物的真相了。

当局者因为身在其中，受到欲望的支配，所以不管脚下还是眼前，都无法看到真相。

但是，你却能从旁观者的角度对状况进行观察。这样的话，即使你自己不去争夺，市场份额也自然会增加。

因为大家都你争我夺的份额中会有一部分自然溢出，流淌到你这里，这真的是一件不可思议的事情。

如此一来，我们就能从欲望膨胀，整天“我啊我啊”的状态中解脱出来，用清澈的眼光看待事物，就能看清事物的本质。

因为我们是通过自己内心来观察事物的，随着心性的提升，我们就能清晰地看到那些堕入饿鬼道的魑魅魍魉、贪婪执着之人，拼命你争我夺的状态。

从中我们可以懂得，“自己应该选择怎样的活法”。

从这个意义上说，努力塑造人格、提高心性是至关重要的事情，这才是人生的目的。

名誉、金钱、权力等，都不是人生的目的。

但是，只要不傲慢无礼，不妄自尊大，即便变得有名，变得有钱，也不会有问题。

四、提高心性最关键的是实践圣贤所讲的道理，而不是只将这些道理当作知识死记硬背

我用“提高心性，拓展经营”这句话来表达这种经营者人格与企业业绩齐头共进的现象，可以说，这就是经营的真谛。

拓展经营的先决条件是经营者自身心性的提高，只要心性提高，业绩必将随之而来。

提高心性，最关键的是实践圣贤所讲的道理，而不是只将这些道理当作知识死记硬背。

我在孩提时学过一首“日新公伊吕波歌”，其第一句就开门见山地提出，“圣贤之道，听了唱了却不做，毫无价值”。

这句话的意思是，“读再多的金玉良言，听再多的醒世警句，如果自己不去实践，就完全没有意义”。

中国有古话云：“读《论语》而不知《论语》。”或许用这句话表达更贴切。
