1990年加入华为，历任华为公司中国市场部总裁、拉美地区部总裁、全球销售部总裁、销售与服务总裁、战略与Marketing总裁、全球网络安全与用户隐私保护委员会主席、美国华为董事长、公司副董事长、轮值CEO及人力资源委员会主任、轮值董事长等职务。

2020年10月1日～2021年3月31日期间由胡厚崑当值轮值董事长。

2022年04月1日～2022年9月30日期间由胡厚崑当值轮值董事长。

2023年10月1日～2024年3月31日期间由胡厚崑当值轮值董事长。

现任华为公司副董事长、轮值董事长。

2022年3月，华为发布了关于公司轮值董事长的当值公告。公告显示，根据公司轮值董事长制度，2022 年 4 月 1 日～2022 年 9 月 30 日期间由胡厚崑当值轮值董事长。轮值董事长在当值期间是公司最高领袖，主持公司董事会及董事会常务委员会。
