Ben van Beurden, Shell’s chief executive, will step down at the end of 2022 and will be replaced by Wael Sawan, director of the company’s renewable energy and energy solutions business, the company said on Monday. The latter will take up his post on January 1, 2023, when he will join Shell’s board. Mr Van Beurden will remain an adviser to the board until 30 June 2023, after which he will leave the group.
