
5月18日至19日,中国—中亚峰会在陕西省西安市举行,浙江阚螺文化有限公司参与制作的“螺钿镶嵌漆器”作为国礼之一隆重亮相,充分彰显了“螺钿”——这项我国流传千年的非遗传统技艺在现代的传承与创新应用,也让公司董事长、温州市洞头区东海贝雕艺术博物馆馆长陈灿渊再一次进入公众视野。
陈灿渊20余年来深耕螺钿工艺,从一无所知到独当一面,逐渐在我国螺钿漆器市场有了一席之位,他的产品远销国内外,成为亚洲重大赛事与国家重大活动的奖牌及礼品,他本人也广受业内好评,入选“2022中国非遗年度人物”候选名单,荣获温州市“四个一批人才”“名师名家”“首席技师”等称号,相关研究成果更是填补国际空白,被破格聘为故宫博物院客座研究员,为在世界范围内展现螺钿之美做出卓越贡献。
一、初识贝雕,结下不解之缘
出生在温州洞头的陈灿渊,童年伴随着各色洞头民间故事传说,其中一个“采宝客”的故事让他印象最为深刻,他觉得“采宝客”拥有一双发现美的眼睛,能在万千平凡事物中探寻到珍宝,于是,他也学着四处搜罗,常常将烂木头、碎瓷片带回家珍藏,还闹出了将墓碑残块扛回家的笑话。
1999年,陈灿渊在大红鹰宾馆工作时,因缘际会发现了酒店仓库里的一件贝雕作品,并被其构图精美、形态逼真、色彩绮丽所深深震撼,他登时决定,要学习贝雕技艺,做出比这幅壁画还要精美的作品。有了这个想法后,陈灿渊四处奔走、多方了解,从头开始学习贝雕。 CXO UNION-CXO联盟(cxounion.cn)
贝雕是螺钿的俗称,洞头贝雕就是源于螺钿传统工艺,因为洞头得天独厚的海洋资源,民间手艺人便将岛上各种贝类的贝壳制作成饰品、日常用品、摆件等,在经代代传承后形成了日臻完善的贝雕镶嵌工艺。曾经,洞头贝雕工艺厂盛极一时,陆续开发生产了系列贝雕产品,深受消费者青睐,行销国内市场,并远销东南亚和西欧等地,是洞头海岛经济的一个亮点。但在1993年后,由于名贵贝壳原料日渐稀缺,工厂流动资金短缺以及人才设备等诸多因素的影响,贝雕生产出现滑坡,贝雕工艺厂改制,工人大多另谋出路,也就导致了大量贝雕工艺品蒙尘于世。
面对洞头贝雕的发展困境,陈灿渊没有选择退缩,而是凭借着对贝雕的满腔热爱,一股脑地投身市场。他执着地认为,虽然洞头贝雕已不复当年辉煌景象,但洞头贝雕的艺术性、技术性和历史文化性都决定了它的发展前景和潜力,况且,凭借洞头的海岛旅游资源和全域旅游规划,如果贝雕工艺品能够作为旅游伴手礼,那无疑会带来巨大的商机。

二、几经波折,终见曙光来临
陈灿渊与朋友合作投资成立了一家经营部,但由于前期的市场调研不够充分,加上贝雕产品出货慢、定价贵等因素,很快,经营部就关门结业。在经历过这次失败后,陈灿渊认识到了自己掌握技术的重要性,于是,他陆续走访了青岛、大连、扬州、福建等地,从学徒做起学习贝雕加工技术,甚至还为了学习漆器制作技术跑到平阳当起了油漆学徒。就这样,凭借着自身的不懈努力,陈灿渊逐渐成为了技术骨干。 CXO UNION-CXO联盟(cxounion.cn)
一次偶然的机会,陈灿渊看到台北故宫展出的一件螺钿作品,是用薄螺钿制作而成,他马上联想到洞头贝雕艺人做的手工艺品都是厚螺钿技艺。做出来的产品器型大,不易携带、保存,色彩比较单一,这显然与现代的生活理念相违背,如果能用薄贝雕技艺制作出更精美小巧的产品,相信对于贝雕的销售也更有裨益。确定好方向后,陈灿渊花一万元从韩国购买了一张二手的明代螺钿小几,到上海化验了成分,然后开始研究薄螺钿的制作工艺。
2006年,陈灿渊成功改进螺钿工艺,又与朋友办了一家公司,并于2009年,将原洞头海岛贝雕厂、志丰工艺品厂、新世纪工艺品厂重组成现在的“东海贝雕”,公司合并后,陈灿渊重新聚集了一些洞头贝雕老手艺人,并集中了更多的物力、财力和技术力量共同开发新产品和新市场。其间,洞头区政府与洞头区科技局还分别给予20万元和1.5万元的补助资金,用于支持洞头传统贝雕工艺的发展。虽然在2012年时还发生了股东破产跑路的小插曲,但在区政府的政策扶持和资金支持下,陈灿渊迎难而上、勉力生产,逐渐将公司带上正轨,在他的技改和创新下,贝雕产品实现了小而美的转变,包装盒、名片夹、化妆镜、钢笔等种类繁多,订单也从温州扩展到全国,逐渐远销韩国、日本等国,打破了由原日韩企业垄断的欧美高档螺钿漆器市场,并逐渐成为一些大型企业的包装供应商。

三、醉心工艺,传承不忘共富
随着生意的逐渐稳定,陈灿渊开始思考如何让贝雕艺术飞入寻常百姓家,如何让螺钿技艺得到更好传承,让它继续在中华文化中保有浓墨重彩的一笔。2013年,陈灿渊创立东海贝雕艺术博物馆,起初博物馆只有一个50平方米的小展厅,后在陈灿渊及其团队的努力下,洞头贝雕及螺钿技艺声名远扬,来访游客数量急剧增加,至2022年时,博物馆新迁至洞头燕子山脚下,升级扩展至5160平方米,馆内设有历史厅、工艺厅、非遗活态展示区、体验互动区等,收藏宋、元、明、清各个时期的螺钿漆器,并涵盖东亚以及世界各个地区的螺钿文物和标本化石等藏品1860多件。博物馆以螺钿技艺为内核,以研学研修和体验活动为外延,依托免费开放,达到贴近群众、融入生活、更好传承的美好愿景。
为培养更多的螺钿技艺传承人,陈灿渊主动对接各大高校、职教中心,开设校外实践基地,每年暑期招收学生来馆实习,通过亲自上阵参与文物修复,新产品的创新研发,馆藏物品的讲解介绍等,带动学生们主动参与到螺钿知识的学习中,让学生们发自内心地理解并喜欢上这项传统工艺。同时,陈灿渊注重发挥馆内郑大志、王卫东两名市级非遗传承人的名人效应,创建“郑大志”和“陈灿渊”两个市级大师工作室和工坊生产车间,通过参与央视《走遍中国》《文化十分》《老艺新生》等各大节目录制;赴洞头各村居开展大量的文化下乡活动等,向大众宣传洞头贝雕文化和螺钿技艺,希望能通过这些途径,让螺钿文化得到广泛传播,将螺钿文化不断向外辐射,使得螺钿技艺在保护与传承中更显光彩。
为了更好地回馈家乡,在共富路上发挥民营企业家作用,陈灿渊设立温州市贝雕非遗工坊,创办贝雕工艺工作室及实践基地,通过革新贝雕技艺,创新研发各类贝雕产品,开展特色工艺参观体验活动,探索线上线下相结合的销售方式,成功带动就业增收,推进海岛乡村共同富裕。近年来,工坊累计开展公益性技能培训30余期,培训1000多人次。工坊技术研发团队荣获了“温州市创新团队”称号,培养了中国文物学会会员2人,国家D类、E类人才5人,省、市、区各级代表性传承人6人,市助理工艺师、技师10余名,带动渔农民转产转业及海岛农村妇女就业近100名,助力人均年收入达4-10万元。截至目前,工坊共申请获得半屏山、东海贝雕、阚螺等3个商标,拥有200多项外观专利和10余项知识产权,成为浙江省科技型中小企业与温州市重点文化企业,年产值达1000多万元,年接待游客10余万人次,带动周边产业5000多万元。今年3月,国家颁布了“非遗工坊典型案例”名单,东海贝雕非遗工坊以“贝雕:传统工艺连接现代生活”成为入选的66个案例之一。 CXO UNION-CXO联盟(cxounion.cn)

In 1999, when Chen Canyuan worked in the big Red Eagle Hotel, he found a shell carving work in the hotel warehouse, and was deeply shocked by its exquisite composition, realistic shape, and beautiful colors. He decided to learn shell carving skills and make more beautiful works than this mural. With this idea, Chen Canyuan ran around, multi-understanding, learning shell carving from scratch.
Shell carving is commonly known as mother-of-pearl, and Dongtou shell carving is originated from the traditional craft of mother-of-pearl. Because of the unique Marine resources of Dongtou, folk artisans would make the shells of various shellfish on the island into jewelry, daily necessities, ornaments, etc., which formed the increasingly perfect shell carving inlay craft after being passed down from generation to generation. Once, the Dongtou shell carving craft factory flourished, and successively developed and produced a series of shell carving products, which were favored by consumers, marketed to the domestic market, and exported to Southeast Asia and Western Europe and other places, which was a bright spot in the island economy of Dongtou. After several twists and turns, finally see the dawn
Chen Canyuan cooperation with friends to invest in the establishment of a business department, but due to the early market research is not sufficient, coupled with shell carving products slow shipment, expensive pricing and other factors, soon, the business department closed. After experiencing this failure, Chen Canyuan realized the importance of mastering technology, so he successively visited Qingdao, Dalian, Yangzhou, Fujian and other places, learning shell carving processing technology from an apprentice, and even went to Pingyang to learn lacquer making technology as a paint apprentice. In this way, with their own unremitting efforts, Chen Canyuan gradually became the backbone of technology.
By chance, Chen Canyuan saw a piece of mother-of-pearl work exhibited in the Taipei Palace Museum, which was made of thin mother-of-pearl, and he immediately thought that the handicrafts made by cave shell carvers were thick mother-of-pearl skills. The product made is large, not easy to carry, preserve, and the color is relatively single, which is obviously contrary to the modern concept of life, if you can use thin shell carving technology to make more exquisite and small products, I believe that the sales of shell carving is also more beneficial. After determining the direction, Chen Canyuan spent 10,000 yuan from South Korea to buy a second-hand Ming Dynasty mother-of-pearl small, to Shanghai to test the composition, and then began to study the production process of thin mother-of-pearl.
In 2006, Chen Canyuan successfully improved the mothering craft, and with friends to do a company, and in 2009, the original Dongtou island shell carving factory, Zhifeng crafts factory, new century crafts factory reorganized into the present “Donghai shell carving”, after the merger of the company, Chen Canyuan re-gathered some of the cave shell carving veteran artists, And concentrated more material, financial and technical strength to jointly develop new products and new markets. In the meantime, the Dongtou District government and the Dongtou District Science and Technology Bureau also gave 200,000 yuan and 15,000 yuan of subsidy funds, respectively, to support the development of traditional shell carving technology in Dongtou. With the gradual stability of the business, Chen Canyuan began to think about how to let the shell carving art fly into the homes of ordinary people, how to let the mother-of-pearl art get better inheritance, so that it continues to maintain a strong color in the Chinese culture. In 2013, Chen Canyuan founded the Donghai Shell Carving Art Museum. At first, the museum only had a small exhibition hall of 50 square meters. Later, under the efforts of Chen Canyuan and his team, the Dongtou shell carving and inlaid skills became well-known, and the number of visitors increased sharply. By 2022, the museum was newly moved to the foot of Dongtou Yanzi Mountain and expanded to 5160 square meters. The museum has a history hall, a craft hall, an intangible cultural relics exhibition area, and an interactive experience area. It collects more than 1,860 pieces of mother-of-pearl lacquer from Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as artifacts and specimens from East Asia and various regions of the world. In order to cultivate more inheritors of mother-of-pearl art, Chen Canyuan took the initiative to connect with universities and vocational education centers, set up off-campus practice bases, and recruited students to practice in the museum every summer. By participating in the restoration of cultural relics, innovative research and development of new products, and explanation and introduction of collection items, Chen Canyuan led students to actively participate in the learning of mother-of-pearl knowledge. In order to better give back to his hometown and play the role of private entrepreneurs on Gongfu Road, Chen Canyuan set up Wenzhou Shell carving intangible heritage Workshop and founded shell carving craft studio and practice base. By innovating shell carving skills, innovative research and development of various shell carving products, carrying out special craft visit and experience activities, and exploring the combination of online and offline sales methods, he successfully promoted employment and income. We will promote common prosperity in island villages. In recent years, the workshop has carried out more than 30 periods of public welfare skills training, training more than 1,000 people. The workshop technology research and development team won the title of “Wenzhou Innovation Team”, trained 2 members of the Chinese Society of Cultural Relics, 5 national D and E talents, 6 representative inheritors at provincial, municipal and district levels, and more than 10 municipal assistant craftsmen and technicians, led fish farmers to change production and business, and nearly 100 island rural women to employment, helping the per capita annual income of 40,000-100,000 yuan. Up to now, the workshop has applied for three trademarks, such as Banping Mountain, Donghai shell diao and Kan Snail, and has more than 200 appearance patents and more than 10 intellectual property rights. It has become a high-tech small and medium-sized enterprise in Zhejiang Province and a key cultural enterprise in Wenzhou City, with an annual output value of more than 10 million yuan, receiving more than 100,000 tourists annually and driving more than 50 million yuan in surrounding industries. Some people say that Chen Canyuan is less and less like a businessman, more like a scholar. In fact, Chen Canyuan indomitable, more and more brave in entrepreneurship, focus on learning and continuous improvement of the spirit, is the true portrayal of the new generation of entrepreneurs in Zhejiang, innovation in inheritance, breakthrough in change.
